Richard Ressler

Richard Ressler

Co-Founder, Chairman

Mr. Ressler is the founder and President of Orchard Capital Corp. ("Orchard Capital"), a firm through which Mr. Ressler oversees companies in which Orchard Capital or its affiliates invest. Through his affiliation with Orchard Capital, Mr. Ressler serves in various senior capacities with, among others, CIM Group, LLC (together with its controlled affiliates, "CIM"), a vertically-integrated owner and operator of real assets, Orchard First Source Asset Management (together with its controlled affiliates, "OFSAM"), a full-service provider of capital and leveraged finance solutions to U.S. corporations, and OCV Management, LLC (“OCV”), an investor, owner and operator of technology companies. Mr. Ressler also serves as a board member for various public and private companies in which Orchard Capital or its affiliates invest, including as chairman of j2 Global, Inc. (NASDAQ "JCOM"), director of Presbia PLC (NASDAQ “LENS”), and chairman of CIM Commercial Trust Corporation (NASDAQ “CMCT”). Mr. Ressler served as Chairman and CEO of JCOM from 1997 to 2000 and, through an agreement with Orchard Capital, currently serves as its non-executive Chairman. Mr. Ressler has served as a director of LENS since January 2015 and as chairman of CMCT since 2014.

Mr. Ressler co-founded CIM in 1994 and, through an agreement with Orchard Capital, chairs its executive, investment, allocation and asset management committees and serves on its credit committee. CIM Investment Advisors, LLC, an affiliate of CIM, is registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission as a registered investment adviser.

Mr. Ressler co-founded the predecessor of OFSAM in 2001 and, through an agreement with Orchard Capital, chairs its executive committee. OFS Capital Management, LLC, an affiliate of OFSAM, is registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission as a registered investment adviser.

Mr. Ressler co-founded OCV in 2016 and, through an agreement with Orchard Capital, chairs its executive committee. OCV is a relying adviser of OFS Capital Management, LLC.

Prior to founding Orchard Capital, from 1988 until 1994, Mr. Ressler served as Vice Chairman of Brooke Group Limited, the predecessor of Vector Group, Ltd. (NYSE "VGR") and served in various executive capacities at VGR and its subsidiaries. Prior to VGR, Mr. Ressler was with Drexel Burnham Lambert, Inc., where he focused on merger and acquisition transactions and the financing needs of middle-market companies. Mr. Ressler began his career in 1983 with Cravath, Swaine and Moore, working on public offerings, private placements, and merger and acquisition transactions. Mr. Ressler holds a B.A. from Brown University, and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Columbia University.

Hemi Zucker is a Managing Principal of OCV (effective Jan. 2018). Mr. Zucker joins from j2 Global (NASDAQ:JCOM), where he has served as the CEO since 2008. Prior, Mr. Zucker was j2’s President, COO, CMO, and the company’s CFO during its 1999 IPO. Mr. Zucker helped co-found j2 Global in 1996 and grew the organization into a global platform that offers services in 50+ markets and employs 2,500 people across 15 countries. Under Hemi’s leadership, j2 expanded its business lines into cloud services, patent licensing, and digital media. Mr. Zucker executed over 160 acquisitions, making j2 one of the most acquisitive tech companies in the U.S. During his tenure, he grew j2 Global’s revenue to over $1.1 billion. Previously, Mr. Zucker worked at Motorola in the U.S. and Israel. He helped launched Israel’s first cellular company, consolidated Israel’s paging industry through M&A, and later also worked on an early wireless data commercial network in the U.S. Mr. Zucker has served on several boards, including LegalZoom and has invested in several funds whose focus span IoT, big data, ad-tech, and student housing. He is also an advisor/minor shareholder in cloud and fintech companies. Mr. Zucker holds a B.A. in Economics from Tel Aviv University.

Zohar Loshitzer

Zohar Loshitzer

Zohar Loshitzer is a Principal of OCV. Since 2005, Mr. Loshitzer has served as a Principal at Orchard, where he supports the portfolio companies including as Board Member and CEO of Presbia PLC (NASDAQ “LENS”), and as the President and CEO of Universal Telecom Services, Inc. He has served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy of j2 Global, Inc. (NASDAQ "JCOM") since 2001 and from 1997 to 2001 served as the Chief Information Officer at j2 Global. He previously served as a consultant to MAI Systems Corp. and as a General Manager and Managing Director at Life Alert Emergency Response, Inc., a provider of security services for the elderly, which Mr. Loshitzer co-founded. He has been a Director of the publicly-traded Advanced Cell Technology Inc. since 2011 and Environmental Solutions Worldwide, Inc. from 2011 to 2015.

Chris Bostick

Chris Bostick

Chris Bostick is a Vice President at OCV. Prior to OCV Dr. Bostick obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences from West Virginia University researching protein immobilization for studying electron transfer and protein-protein interactions in Cytochrome P450s. For his postdoctoral work, he studied precision medicine-based approaches for genetic epilepsies at the Institute for Genomic Medicine at Columbia University. Dr. Bostick holds a B.S. in Biology from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences from West Virginia University.

Chris serves as a Board Observer for Ossio.

Steph got started in VC in Israel where he was OurCrowd’s first dedicated investment analyst and eventually the fund’s Principal. During his tenure at OurCrowd, Steph and his team deployed over $700M into a portfolio of over 150 companies around the world, alongside top Silicon Valley VCs including Sequoia, A16Z, Khosla Ventures, NEA and alongside super angels like Richard Branson, Marissa Mayer, Eric Schmidt, and Mark Cuban etc. OurCrowd also built a FinTech business around some of its proprietary back-end software, valuing the company at $360M, and for which it was recognized as one of KPMG's top FinTech startups to watch. Steph sat on the investment committee for Radicle, OurCrowd's AgriTech fund - a joint venture with Finistere Ventures, DuPont, and Bayer Crop Sciences.

Before OurCrowd, Steph worked at ING bank where he led teams of engineers and designers to build award-winning enterprise software.

Steph holds two bachelor's degrees in Economics and Biotechnology from the University of Waikato, New Zealand, as well as an Executive diploma in negotiation from Harvard Law School.

Steph’s current areas of investment interest include enterprise software, and any technology that enhances real assets (e.g. real estate analytics, construction technology, cleantech, etc.)

Eli Cole is an Associate at OCV. Prior to OCV, Eli worked with the Dallas-based Adi family office to create value through its venture investing program. He primarily focused on investments in venture capital funds and occasional direct investments in technology and healthcare startups. He also spent a summer in the technology investment banking group of Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Eli is an M.B.A. candidate at UCLA Anderson, holds a J.D. cum laude from UC Hastings College of the Law, and a B.A. in Mathematics from TCU where he served as captain of the golf team.

Camella Wilson

Camella leverages her deep technical expertise to invest in and support bold entrepreneurs in the Life Sciences and Healthcare sectors. Before joining OCV, Dr. Wilson worked at the Boston Consulting Group supporting global Biopharma and CPG clients in achieving their strategic and operational goals. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCSF, her research focused on uncovering mechanisms of lipid accumulation and inflammation in NAFLD and NASH and on developing novel therapies for improving insulin sensitivity. She also supported early-stage catalytic investments and business development efforts for the USCF-CTSI Catalyst Program. Her doctoral thesis was centered on utilizing genetic models to characterize a novel pancreas-derived peptide and its role in hepatic glucose production.

Camella holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Temple University. She is a native of St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Dan Engel

Venture Capitalist–in-Residence

Dan Engel is a Venture Capitalist–in-Residence at OCV, and has been a B2B and B2C software entrepreneur since 1997. Until 2015 Mr. Engel was CEO & Co-Founder or Board Member at FastSpring, a fintech SaaS platform for 4,000 software companies worldwide. FastSpring was acquired in 2013 by Pylon Capital and again in 2018 by Accel-KKR.

Prior to FastSpring, Mr. Engel led online customer acquisition/advertising for Google during its IPO phase. Before Google, he was VP of Market Development at Picasa, a digital photo consumer software company sold to Google in 2004 (now known as Google Photos). Previously, he led customer acquisition/revenue generation for GoToMyPC & GoToMeeting software, helping lead to a $225 million initial acquisition by Citrix & building a major brand that today generates over $600 million in recurring SaaS revenue. In 2016, the software was again acquired, this time by LogMeIn for $1.8 billion.

Mr. Engel has been an investor, advisor, and/or board member at NGEN Partners, Rincon Venture Partners, TechStars, Apeel Sciences, SafeGraph, Blue Triangle Technologies, TrackStreet, Mobile1st, and other firms. He serves on the boards of New Beginnings, a non-profit that provides counseling services to military veteran, low income and homeless individuals, and Partners in Housing Solutions, a non-profit that helps place homeless people from Santa Barbara County into permanent housing.

At 24, Mr. Engel was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Idealab, the #1 incubator of the .com era, after having started a consumer e-commerce company in college. Prior to being a software entrepreneur, Mr. Engel worked at Sanford Bernstein, Merrill Lynch, Smith Barney, and Fidelity Investments (FMR). He has appeared in various publications, including Entrepreneur Magazine, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal. Dan graduated from Tulane University in 1998 with a degree in Finance.
